Roofing Questions, Answered Straight

The questions we hear most from Toowoomba homeowners — answered honestly, no jargon. Can't see yours? Just ask.

Roofing comes with a lot of jargon, a lot of varying advice, and more than a few dodgy operators — so it's no wonder most people have questions before they hand over their roof. Below are the ones we get asked most often by homeowners and businesses around Toowoomba and the Darling Downs, answered the same way we'd answer them standing in your driveway: plainly and honestly.

A quick note before you read on: every roof is different. The answers here are honest general guidance, not a substitute for getting up and looking at your actual roof. If your question isn't covered, or you'd rather just talk it through with a local roofer, give us a call — there's never any charge or pressure for a straight answer.

Quotes & costs

Are your quotes really free?
Yes — every quote is free and there's no obligation. We inspect the roof, explain what we find with photos, and put a fixed, itemised price in writing. You decide from there.
How much does roofing cost in Toowoomba?
It depends entirely on the job — a few cracked tiles is a small spend, a full Colorbond re-roof is a significant investment. Roof size, pitch, material and condition all matter, which is why we give you a detailed written quote rather than a vague figure. You'll always know the real number before any work starts.
Do you charge a call-out fee for quotes?
No — quoting is free. We'd rather come out, take a proper look and earn your trust with honest advice than nickel-and-dime you for a quote.
How do I get the most accurate quote?
Tell us as much as you can — the roof type and age, what problem you're seeing, and any photos you can safely take. Then we'll come out and confirm it on-site so the quote you get is the price you pay.

Repairs, restoration & replacement

How do I know if I need a repair, a restoration or a replacement?
As a rule of thumb: a localised problem on a sound roof needs a repair; a tired but structurally sound roof is ideal for a restoration; a roof that's worn out, widely rusted or leaking everywhere needs replacing. We'll get up there, show you the photos and give you the honest call — including when the cheaper option is the right one.
Is a roof restoration worth it?
For most tired-but-sound roofs, yes — a restoration costs a fraction of a replacement and adds 10–15 years of life while making the roof watertight and great-looking again. It only stops being worth it once a roof is genuinely past saving, and we'll tell you if that's the case.
How long will the work take?
Most repairs are same-day or a single visit. Restorations typically take two to four days; full replacements three to seven, weather permitting. We'll give you a realistic timeframe with your quote.
Will my home be exposed during a re-roof?
No — we work in sections and never strip more than we can make watertight in a day. Your home stays protected throughout, even if a storm rolls in.

Storm damage & insurance

Do you do emergency storm repairs?
Yes — storm and hail damage are our top-priority call-outs. We get out fast, make the roof safe and watertight, then sort the permanent repair. If water's coming in now, call us.
Will my insurance cover storm or hail damage?
Most home policies cover sudden storm and hail damage, though every policy differs. The key is proper documentation — clear photos and a detailed report — which is exactly what we provide to give your claim the best chance of approval.
Do you deal with the insurance company for me?
We do as much as we can — documenting the damage to the standard assessors expect, providing detailed reports and quotes, and liaising with your insurer so the process is far less stressful for you.
