Replacing a roof is a big call and a real investment — so the first thing we’ll do is make sure you actually need one. Plenty of roofers see a tired roof and quote a full replacement because that’s the bigger ticket. We’d rather tell you the truth: if a restoration will get you another 10–15 years, we’ll say so.
But when a roof is genuinely done — widespread rust, failed structure, repair stacked on repair, or it’s simply reached the end of its life — there’s no patching your way out of it. A proper replacement is the only thing that protects your home, and done right, it’s the last roof you’ll think about for decades.
It’s a job we take seriously, because a roof replacement done badly is an expensive mistake to live with. Get the structural prep, the materials or the installation wrong and you’ll be chasing leaks on a brand-new roof — which is exactly why we don’t cut corners on any of it. From the first inspection to the final clean-up, the whole job is done to a standard built to last in the Darling Downs climate.
When replacement is the right call
- The roof is leaking in multiple spots and repairs aren’t holding
- Widespread rust on a metal roof, or cracked and porous tiles throughout
- Sagging, rotten battens or other structural problems
- An old asbestos roof you want gone safely
- You’re renovating or extending and want it all to match
- You simply want a modern, low-maintenance, better-insulated roof
What we replace
- Metal & Colorbond re-roofs — strip the old roof and install a new steel roof built for the Downs climate (more on our Colorbond roofing page)
- New roof installations — for extensions, new builds, sheds and patios
- Tile-to-metal conversions — lose the weight and maintenance of tile, gain a clean modern look
- Asbestos roof removal & replacement — handled safely and to regulation
Safe asbestos roof removal
A lot of older homes and sheds across Toowoomba and the Darling Downs still have asbestos-cement roofing — the old “fibro” and corrugated AC sheeting common up until the 1980s. It’s not something to take lightly or to pull off yourself: disturbing asbestos releases fibres that are genuinely dangerous, and its removal and disposal are tightly regulated in Queensland.
We handle asbestos roof removal and replacement properly and to regulation. That means safe removal practices, correct containment and wetting-down to control fibres, proper disposal at a licensed facility, and the documentation that goes with it. Once the old roof is safely gone, we replace it with a clean, modern Colorbond roof that’s lighter, safer and built to last.
If your home or shed has an old fibro or cement roof you’re worried about — especially if it’s cracked, weathered or breaking down — don’t disturb it. Give us a call and we’ll assess it and talk you through safe removal and replacement, including what’s involved and what it costs. It’s one of the most worthwhile roofing upgrades an older Downs property can have, for safety as much as for looks.
A replacement is a chance to upgrade
A roof replacement isn’t just swapping old for new — done well, it’s an opportunity to genuinely improve your home. With the old roof off and the structure exposed, it’s the cheapest and easiest time to add or upgrade insulation and sarking, which makes a real difference to how your home copes with the Toowoomba summer heat and winter chill. It’s also the ideal moment to sort roof ventilation, so your roof space breathes properly from day one. And by moving to a modern Colorbond roof — including a tile-to-metal conversion if you’re tired of cracked tiles and constant maintenance — you end up with a lighter, lower-maintenance, better-performing roof than the one you started with. We’ll talk through these options when we quote, so you can decide what’s worth doing while the roof is open and the access is already there.
How we do it properly
Once you accept the quote, we strip the old roofing back and — this is the part cheaper jobs skip — we actually inspect the structure underneath. Battens, beams and fixings get checked and repaired before a single new sheet goes on. There’s no point laying a beautiful new roof over rotten timber.
Then we install your new roof to manufacturer specification: correct fixings, proper laps, fresh flashings, new sarking where needed, and clean valley and ridge detailing. We don’t strip more than we can make watertight the same day, so your home is never left exposed to a Toowoomba storm overnight.
When it’s done, we clean the site completely — magnetic sweep for stray screws and offcuts included — walk the finished job with you, and hand over your warranties in writing. We treat your property with respect throughout: tidy work areas, safe practices, and clear communication so you always know what’s happening and when.
The materials we use
A roof replacement is only as good as what goes into it, top to bottom. We replace predominantly in genuine Colorbond steel, chosen for how well it handles the Darling Downs sun, frost and hail, in the profile and colour you choose from the full range. Underneath the visible roof, the details do the heavy lifting: quality reflective sarking for insulation and a backup against water, fresh flashings, ridge caps and valley irons throughout (we never reuse tired old ones on a new roof), and the correct screws and fasteners for the profile and your area’s wind rating. Where asbestos removal is involved, it’s handled safely and to regulation. Everything is matched to the system so the manufacturer’s warranty holds and the roof performs as it should.
Transparency: what a new roof costs and includes
A replacement is a significant investment, so we make the numbers clear. Your quote is fixed and itemised — the strip and disposal, any structural repairs, sarking and insulation, the new roofing, flashings and labour all spelled out — so there are no vague “from” figures. If we strip the roof and uncover structural damage we couldn’t see from outside, we stop and talk it through with you before doing anything, rather than quietly adding it to the bill. And the finished roof is backed two ways: the substantial manufacturer’s warranty on the Colorbond steel, plus our own written workmanship guarantee on the installation. You’ll always know exactly what you’re paying for.
Licensed, insured, and local
A roof replacement is not a job for an unlicensed handyman with a borrowed ladder. We’re licensed and fully insured, we do it to code, and we stand behind it. And because we’re based right here on the Darling Downs, we’re around long after the job’s done if you ever need us.
A new roof is one of the bigger investments you’ll make in your home, and it should be the last time you have to think about your roof for decades. That only happens when the whole job is done properly — honest advice on whether you need it, quality materials, a sound structure underneath, a professional installation and a warranty that stands behind it. That’s exactly what we deliver, and why so many Downs homeowners trust us with the job.
